How IQ tests can be used in your disability case.

Disability cases involving mental disorders may depend on intelligence tests, also known as IQ tests, to establish disability.

Intelligence tests are standardized tests that help disability examiners verify mental disorders, such as mental retardation and learning disabilities.

These tests may be performed at the request of the disability examiner as part of the consultative examination after your disability application is filed. However, if the claimant's own doctors have performed these tests before the application was filed, the SSA may rely on the results of those tests.
